Holy Beer!

Uh yes. There is a glass that large for the sole purpose of holding beer.

And it can be found, where else? At a German beer house on the Lower East Side called Loreley.
I just wish I could remember which kind of beer I had. I do remember that it was good... and so was the food!

If you're looking for a great beer spot, with hearty food and an outdoor area... check out Loreley.

On (or In) the Border of NY-NJ

Was it technically allowed? Mmmm no. Were lots of people doing it? Yes. So, I guess I jumped off the proverbial bridge following the crowd.

Only once a year is the Lincoln Tunnel Bridge shut down, and every year for the past few years, thousands have participated in the 5k Lincoln Tunnel Run benefiting the Special Olympics of New Jersey.

Sure...I ran it for the kids... and I ran it for myself. I'm signed up for a monster run later in summer.

So, we started from Jersey ran under the the Hudson River through the Lincoln Tunnel over to New York and then back again.

By the time we were on our way back I needed a little breather and decided to snap this pic. Who knows when I'll have another chance...oh, wait. Next year.

(BTW, I guess you're not supposed to technically take a pic inside the Lincoln Tunnel...shhhhhh)

An Escape Within the City

Sometimes you just have to get away from the constant honking and harrassment and hustle and bustle and barking and concrete and...well, you get the idea.

It's just too much.

Thankfully, New York City has some fantastic parks that when you make your way to the center of them, the roar of the cars actually sound like a bubbling brook.
You can see the little bit of the Hudson River on the left, and if you can believe it...the Henry Hudson Highway just below that stone wall.

When I've had enough of the city, I walk a few blocks over and relax in Fort Tryon.

Who Loses a Shoe?

I was racing to work in midtown when this stopped me cold.

The first thought that popped into my head was "Honestly, who loses a shoe?" (In the same voice as Austin Powers)

My sister will understand that reference.

But, seriously folks. How do you walk/run/skip out of a flip flop and not notice that your foot is now touching New York City sidewalk? Gross.

An Entire Peel

It was a gorgeous spring day, and of course there was traffic leaving the Bronx Botanical Garden...
So, I rolled down the window (or should I say pushed the button) and stuck my head out the window and noticed this peel from a perfectly peeled orange!I mean, wow! To peel an orange in one go takes talent.
